Suppose you want to explain to an audience why a one-degree difference in climate has a real-world impact, explaining that the difference between water and ice is an excellent place to start. Imagine what this approach to climate change could have on those who don’t take the issue seriously. As a non-profit, you mustn’t bury the headline when talking to the media (or anyone else).

Drop the mic moment

False equivalency and misinformation have very real-world impacts on the work of non-profits. Whether it’s a conspiracy about vaccines or extremist views on, well, just about anything, non-profits now have the additional role of combatting misinformation. You need a punchy well-resourced storyline to enlist journalists in cutting through the noise. You need those 'drop the mic' moments that put the uninformed and malevolent back on their heels, and Lookatmedia™ is the stage where it all takes place.

Setting the stage

If you want to be seen and heard, you need a stage. The media provides the best stage for non-profits who want to educate and influence the public and public policy. But to get on the media stage, you need first a rehearsal stage. A place where the media can come to hear what you have to say. Lookatmedia™ is that rehearsal stage. It is an environment in which you can test your ideas and stories for the media, find what works (and what doesn’t) and create more compelling storylines. Without this rehearsal stage, you risk losing the attention of journalists, media representatives and influencers.

Overcoming inertia

Worldwide, there are quite literally millions of worthwhile non-profits clamouring for the attention of the media. Only a small few ever get this attention. Lookatmedia™ is your golden ticket to attracting more media attention. Rather than simply sending out countless Media Releases (which you can create and publish in Lookatmedia™), invite journalists and media representatives into a world of content and storylines created specifically to meet their needs. Create a veritable ‘Charlie’s chocolate factory’ of story ideas, images and videos, as well as stats and facts that help journalists, media representatives and influencers overcome the inertia of creating their own content and have them come back again and again.

The loudest voice in the room

Rather than try to be the loudest voice in the room, create your own room and invite the media in. Rather than try and talk over the crowd's din, create a quiet space, a library where journalists can sit and read story ideas that inspire their own stories. Make it simple for them to takes parts of your stories, quantifiable details, images and videos and create their own quality content easier and faster. Allow them 24/7/365-day access to this pre-approved content and see that you don't always have to be the loudest voice in the room to be heard.
